Basement Room Makeover

When we first moved in this room was filled with two desks, one of which I didn’t even know was in there, a leather loveseat, an old kitchen island, a printer (like, a business office printer), a book shelf, and SO much more. It was so packed in here that we seriously had no idea there was a fireplace!

We had no plans for this room, but then the parents wanted to come visit and so we needed the room. Here we go! I saw a bedroom makeover on Chris Loves Julia that mixed patterns and I really wanted to try it out on this room! I took this rug that I found on Wayfair and really planned the room around it. The vibe is warm and homey, vintage cottage, meets modern, meets warm and cozy, classic B&B vibe, ha!

I decided to go for LOOK 1 for our needs; they’re staying a week and I don’t need another fully furnished bedroom downstairs. If you don’t know, we are the only ones of our family in WA and we usually go and visit rather than the opposite, so, don’t really need all the extra stuff. BUT, you could really take this up to the level of LOOK 5 which is a full on cozy bedroom. I love the feel of the purple/blue rug and the grey tones in the comforter, it ties together well and really creates a sophisticated look.

This room is in process so I’ll have to come back here and show an update, but if you like any of the looks each photo has sources to similar items or the actual items shown in the photos.

Have a happy time mixing patterns!
